About This Journal

The Pennsylvania Teacher Educator provides PAC-TE members, other researchers, and educators with a venue to publish current research using quantitative, qualitative, and/or mixed-methods approaches, as well as rigorous theoretical works that capture advances and changes in the emerging directions of teacher education. Contributions are written by academics, educators, and others engaged in teacher education in Pennsylvania and other regions.

The journal began as a monograph, publishing its first issue in 1999, and then moved to a journal format, publishing its first issue in 2002.  Starting in 2021, the Pennsylvania Teacher Educator moved to publishing two issues per year. In 2026, the journal transitioned to a digital publication.

FOCUS AND SCOPE

The Pennsylvania Teacher Educator invites submissions that help to advance the field of teacher education. The manuscript should:

  • contribute new or novel content to the field of teacher education
  • illustrate rigorous scholarship by using recent and relevant literature
  • demonstrate how the new knowledge fits within or adds to existing knowledge in the field
  • adhere to the concision of ideas that are clearly written using concise English.

RIGOROUS PEER REVIEW

All manuscript submissions are subject to initial appraisal by the Editors, and, if found suitable for further consideration, to peer review by independent, anonymous expert referees. All peer reviews are double blind.   See Author Guidelines

OPEN ACCESS POLICY

The Pennsylvania Teacher Educator offers immediate open access to its content without requiring registration. The journal adheres to the Budapest Open Access Initiative definition of Open Access. By “open access,” we mean both the free availability of the journal on the public internet and permission for users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text of all articles; crawl all articles for indexing; pass all articles as data to software; and use all articles for any lawful purpose without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inherent to internet access. The only restriction on reproduction and distribution (and the only role for copyright here) is to ensure that the original authors maintain control over the integrity of their work and are properly acknowledged and cited. We promote wider global sharing of knowledge by making the research published in our journal openly accessible and reusable under the terms of a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License (CC-BY-4.0). To improve visibility and accessibility, articles published in Pennsylvania Teacher Educator are indexed in ERIC and searchable through EBSCO, increasing discoverability for researchers, teacher educators, and practitioners worldwide.

Following peer review and editorial acceptance, authors are encouraged to post their pre-publication manuscripts in institutional repositories or on personal websites. After publication, authors may also post the final published PDF version without embargo. These practices support the exchange of ideas, expand access to scholarship, and increase the potential impact and citation of published work.

PUBLICATION FREQUENCY

The journal publishes at least one issue per year, depending on the number of accepted manuscripts. Our goal is to publish two issues per year.
