President's Report
June 22-23, 2009

Since the April Board meeting, I conducted the two-day Spring Conference in State College. Participation was lower than expected. Overall, comments were positive. Some participants were disappointed with the last minute cancellation of the session on learning strategies.

I attended a meeting with staff from Senator Picolla's office, as well as representatives from PDE and AICUP to work on an agreement concerning program approval requirements for a specified number of credits and the requirement for the faculty qualification matrix. Once the agreement was reached, I presented it to Board members for approval. I attended webinars on the changes to ensure the agreement was upheld.

I prepared a column for News Notes and submitted items to TidBits to keep members informed of changes/happenings with the revised program approval process.

I attended the TEA planning meeting in State College. I contacted Terry Barnaby concerning PDE's presentation on the final morning of the conference.

I participated in a meeting/conference call for the LFTE grant planning committee. The committee has officially completed its work.

I worked with Jim Flynn on plans for the annual Board retreat. Jim and I also worked on letters for individual and institutional membership.

I worked with the fiscal office at PDE to ensure that PAC-TE is reimbursed for the Spring Conference as per the professional development grant proposal submitted last year.
