President's Report
April 15, 2010Since the January 2010 meeting of the PAC-TE Board of Directors, I have engaged in the following association-related activities:
- Attended the ATE conference in Chicago where I participated in the meeting of the Council of Unit Presidents, served as a member to the Delegate Assembly, and graciously accepted the award for Membership Management;
- Sent a letter of protest to the Pennsylvania Department of Education concerning the USC application for establishing an online teacher certification program
- Attended a conference call on formation of SIGs/focus groups;
- Reviewed two new pieces of legislation presented in the House Education Committee and wrote to Senator Piccola and Senator Dinniman with PAC-TE’s concerns;
- Answered e-mails and phone calls from members;
- Worked with the spring conference committee on logistical details;
- Worked with Executive Director on issues related to forming focus groups and the government relations committee;
- Sent nominations for the Government Relations Committee to the Executive Committee;
- Sent invitations to prospective members of the committee;
- Maintained contact with other organizations working on issues related to teacher education; and
- Cooperatively developed with Linda Cook the agenda for the April 15, 2010 Board Meeting.
