President's Report
October 26, 2011

Since the conclusion of the PAC-TE Board of Directors Meeting on September 16, 2011, I have engaged in the following association-related activities:

As President –

  • Consulted with national, regional, and state stakeholders in teacher preparation organizations’ leadership;
  • Corresponded with Pennsylvania Department of Education officials about PA School Code;
  • Attended meetings of the PA State Board of Education;
  • Attended meetings of PA State Board of Education Committee on Teacher and School Leader Effectiveness;
  • Prepared announcements and shared information from AACTE on the U.S. News and World Report/National Council on Teacher Quality (NCTQ) project intended to evaluate teacher preparation programs;
  • Drafted announcements and introductions about teacher preparation issues and events for TidBits releases;
  • Fielded questions from various PAC-TE institutional and individual members;
  • Collaborated with PASCD President on the development of a K-16 and beyond partnership under the theme of excellence in teacher preparation;
  • Served on TEA 2011 Planning Committee and finalized arrangements.
