President's Report
January 13, 2012
Since the conclusion of the PAC-TE Board of Directors meeting on October 26, 2011, I have engaged in the following association-related activities:
As President –

Consulted with national, regional, and state stakeholders in teacher preparation organizations’ leadership;
Corresponded with Pennsylvania Department of Education officials about program approval guidelines and PA School Code;
Conducted debriefings of the 2011 TEA with Executive Director and Planning Committee Chairperson;
Answered emails and telephone calls from PAC-TE members;
Had ongoing conversations and correspondence with members of the Executive Committee over regular PAC-TE business;
Attended meetings of the PA State Board of Education;
Attended meetings of PA State Board of Education Committee on Teacher and School Leader Effectiveness;
Drafted announcements and introductions about teacher preparation issues and events for TidBits releases;
Corresponded with ACSR unit representatives and with ACSR national coordinator at AACTE about new and revised U.S. DOE regulations impacting teacher preparation programs offered by IHE’s;
Fielded questions from various PAC-TE institutional and individual members;
Offered testimony on post-baccalaureate teacher certification program approval procedures during the public comment session of the 15 November 2011 meeting of the PA State Board of Education in Harrisburg;
Drafted invitation to community college directors of teacher education programs to encourage their collaboration with and membership in PAC-TE;
Continued to coordinate PAC-TE/PASCD collaborative initiative with PASCD President: Excellence in Teacher Preparation, PK-16 and Beyond;
Participated in spring conference 2012 planning committee activities;
Attended December 2, 2011 TEA 2012 Planning Committee meeting;
Assisted in preparation of ATE unit award portfolio development.
