PAC-TE Annual Business Meeting
President's Report
Since taking office in July 2010, I have engaged in the following association-related activities:
Transitioned from President-Elect to President by –
- Participating in the PDE full program review workgroup;
- Facilitating SAS Institute for Higher Education in Lancaster, PA;
- Identifying candidates to replace state-related Board member’s resignation, contacted replacement choices, confirmed acceptance;
- Contacting PAC-TE members attending the June 2010 “Grad Forum” at Lehigh University who would represent the organization and provide input on the content of the forum.
- Attending June 2010 PA State Board of Education meeting in Harrisburg;
- Joining Teacher and School Leader Effectiveness Committee of the PA State Board of Education, June 2010;
As President –
- Met with AICUP vice-president for government relations to discuss advocacy role of PAC-TE in program development and policy implementation;
- Corresponded with Terry Barnaby and Christina Baumer over post-baccalaureate certification program approval guidelines;
- Corresponded with various organization members regarding post-baccalaureate certification concerns;
- Responded to AACTE/ACSR request for input on the impact of Race to the Top;
- Contacted potential volunteers to serve on the Audit Committee with its chair, Bob King;
- Communicated via Google Group about a proposed mathematics specialist certificate, its development and process for obtaining PDE approval;
- Collaborated with PAC-TE Executive Director and Past President in development and implementation and with the PAC-TE Working Group on analysis and reporting of the program review survey;
- Teleconferenced with TEA leadership group to prepare an agenda for new proposal-writing session at the 2010 TEA;
- Consulted with national, regional, and state stakeholders in teacher preparation organizations’ leadership;
- Corresponded with Pennsylvania Department of Education officials about program approval guidelines;
- Made final preparations for the 2010 TEA with the Executive Director and the Planning Committee Chairperson;
- Teleconferenced with the TEA leadership group to prepare an agenda for the new proposal-writing session at the 2010 TEA;
- Communicated with PAC-TE leadership and external parties to organize and coordinate a special TEA breakfast session for conference participants involved in post-baccalaureate teacher preparation/administrator certification program development;
- Reviewed materials with Past-President Kathy Ruthkosky in advance of PAC-TE testimony to PDE regarding University of Southern California’s master’s degree in teaching proposal;
- Engaged in PAC-TE bylaws revision process, including telephone conference with bylaws revision working group;
- Coordinated formation of and gave charge to PAC-TE technology integration committee (TIC);
- Co-edited Government Relations Committee (GRC) position paper;
- Answered emails and telephone calls from PAC-TE members;
- Had ongoing conversations and correspondence with members of the Executive Committee over regular PAC-TE business.
