PAC-TE Board of Directors Meeting
Minutes
The PAC-TE Board of Directors met for its regularly-scheduled meeting on April 10, 2008, at the Sleep Inn in State College, Pa. The following members were present: Terry Blue, Michele Cheyne, John Criswell, Susan Criswell, Mary Dupuis, Clythera Hornung, Jean James, Bob King, Beverly Melenyzer, Kathy Ruthkosky, Fred Savitz and Kevin Zook. Executive Director James Flynn was also in attendance.
President Clythera Hornung called the meeting to order at 1:35 p.m. Minutes of the January 18, 2008 meeting were approved under a motion by Mary Dupuis, seconded by Michele Cheyne.
The following reports were approved:
- Executive Director - Fred Savitz motion, second by Beverly Melenyzer
- Association account - Mary Dupuis motion, second by John Criswell
- Conference account - Kathy Ruthkosky motion, second by Bob King
- President's report - Kevin Zook motion, second by Jean James
There was no old business.
Under new business, it was announced that the president-elect will be elected at the Teacher Education Assembly, October 29-31, 2008. Terry Blue has agreed to continue to serve as judge of elections through the summer of 2008.
Mary Dupuis moved and Terry Blue seconded that PAC-TE join and support the Pennsylvania School Funding Campaign. The motion passed unanimously.
Beverly Melenyzer, chair of the 38th annual Teacher Education Assembly, reported that Ron Cowell will be the keynote speaker. Even though Mr. Cowell did not require a fee for his services, the Board voted to contribute $1,000 to the Education Policy and Leadership Council as an honorarium for his service. This was accomplished through a motion by Mary Dupuis, seconded by Kathy Ruthkosky.
Jim Flynn recommended that PAC-TE participate in a tribute page in the summer 2008 ATE Conference. PAC-TE tribute will be in honor of Ray and Marge Sunderland. The cost is $30.00. Jean James moved and Mary Dupuis seconded that the organization participate in the tribute page. It passed without dissent.
As information, Mary Dupuis announced that PAC-TE was again a recipient of the ATE award for articulation with the national office.
The dates for the annual board retreat were established as June 18-19, 2008, at the Sleep Inn in State College, Pa.
In the next item of business, Susan Criswell moved and Mary Dupuis seconded that Jane Bray continue to represent PAC-TE at the AACTE's ASCR summer 2008 Leadership Meeting. The motion carried by unanimous vote.
Mary Dupuis moved and Susan Criswell seconded that James Flynn be authorized in writing by President Hornung to pursue $300 in unclaimed property through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The motion passed without dissent.
The Board next authorized Executive Director James Flynn to spend up to $250 in advertising in the summer 2008 ATE Conference program. The authorized was approved by a motion from Mary Dupuis, seconded by Susan Criswell.
As information, the Board was informed of the Student Teaching Conference to be held at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania on May 29-31, 2008.
Adjournment of the meeting came at 4:30 p.m. via a motion from Jean James, seconded by Fred Savitz.
