PAC-TE Board of Directors Meeting
Minutes

The P.A.C.-T.E. Board of Directors met via telephone conference on January 18, 2008. The following members participated: Terry Blue, Michele Cheyne, John Criswell, Susan Criswell, Mary Dupuis, Clythera Hornung, Jean James, Bob King, Beverly Melenyzer, Jim Nolan, Fred Savitz, Sally Sentner, Theona Waxbom, and Kevin Zook. Executive Director James Flynn was also present.

President Clythera Hornung called the meeting to order at 9:05 AM.

The minutes of the October 24, 2007 meeting were approved through a motion from Mary Dupuis, seconded by Beverly Melenyzer.

By consensus, the Board agreed to deviate from the printed agenda and move immediately to New Business.

The issue of including the P.E.R.A. Award Winning article in the P.A.C.-T.E. Journal was presented by Jim Nolan. P.E.R.A. has agreed to pay any additional costs associated with the inclusion. Susan Criswell moved and Michele Cheyne seconded that the P.E.R.A. article be included. The motion passed unanimously.

The next item of business concerned the use of Tid-Bits to post job vacancies among member institutions. Provided that John Johnson concurs, the issue was approved under a Mary Dupuis motion, seconded by Kathy Ruthkosky. The issue will be reviewed by the Board after period not exceeding one year.

Kathy Ruthkosky provided an update on the Spring 2008 Conference. Following considerable discussion, Kathy Ruthkosky moved and Mary Dupuis seconded that Ken McEwen be contracted as the main speaker for the conference at the rate of $1,000 plus expenses. The motion passed unanimously.

Chairperson Beverly Melenyzer offered an update on T.E.A. 2008 first by thanking Cly Hornung, Donna Armstrong and Mary Dupuis for conducting the December, 2007 meeting during her absence. Ron Cowell of the Education Policy and Leadership Council will be asked to be the keynote speaker. Mary Dupuis moved and Bob King seconded that the report be accepted. The motion passed unanimously.

Under Old Business, Mary Dupuis reported that P.A.C.-T.E.’s application for A.T.E. Unit Awards had been submitted.

The Board next decided by consensus to offer a free 2008-09 Individual Membership to any individual who joins at the 2008 Spring Conference.

The Board was reminded that the next meeting will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at 1:30 PM at the Sleep Inn in State College.

The meeting adjourned at 10:43 AM.
