Executive Director's Report
January 14, 2011

Since the October 27, 2010, meeting of the PAC-TE Board of Directors, I have engaged in the following association-related activities:

TEA 2010 Follow-Up

  • Compiled the TEA evaluations for 2011 Committee and Board review
  • Mailed session evaluations to presenters
  • Compiled session and registration statistics for 2011 Committee and Board review
  • Conduced an exit meeting with and shared evaluation data with hotel staff
  • Forwarded bills for payment and developed an income/expenditures report
TEA 2011
  • Worked with the TEA 2011 Chair to plan and implement the December 3 Planning Committee Meeting in State College
  • Revised the Call for Proposals post card to members
  • As directed by the Planning Committee revised the Call for Proposals and Proposals Submission Form
  • As directed by the Planning Committee revised the proposal review form
  • Participated in several phone calls with Holiday Inn Harrisburg/Hershey staff to plan for 2011
  • Developed an estimated income/expenditures budget for Board review

Awards

  • Mailed 2010 Teacher Educator of the Year Award and a letter of congratulations to Dr. Christine Royce, Shippensburg University

Nominations and Elections

  • Sent letters of congratulations and regret to those who ran for office
  • Invited successful candidates to the June 2011 Board retreat and outlined Board responsibilities and upcoming meetings (Bernard Badiali, Keith Dils, Jesse Moore, and Kevin Zook)

Focus Groups

  • worked with the Web Master to further develop a password-protected Web site for facilitators to access group and individual e-mail addresses of their focus group members. This site is being updated as new members choose focus groups.
  • published focus group reports and an article by Kevin Zook on focus groups in NewsNotes and for the Board
  • provided focus group facilitators with timelines for submission of items to the Board, copy for NewsNotes, and proposals for conferences

Program Review Survey

  • posted the program review survey report and recommendations to the Web site

Board Support

  • prepared for the January 14, 2011, Board meeting to include agenda development with the President
  • provided materials for PAC-TE’s application for ATE Unit Awards to the application writer, Mary Dupuis
  • conducted electronic votes on purchase of an ATE Program Ad and the rollover of the PAC-TE CD
  • purchased a ¼ page ad in the ATE Annual Program
  • compiled information for and participated in the first two meetings of the Technology Integration Committee, followed by investigation of hardware/software/services needs and credit card processing and Web-based forms services

Membership

  • contacted nonmembers who registered for the TEA as members to solicit membership
  • made a fourth contact via customized e-mail with eligible non-member institutions and prepared a list of these institutions for Board review and action
  • processed membership forms, forwarding checks to the Treasurer

Member Communications

  • developed, published, and mailed the January 2011 NewsNotes
  • sent numerous Tidbits e-mails to the membership – PDE weekly e-mails, EPLC newsletters, AACTE State Directors Updates, position announcements, and professional development opportunities
  • updated the PAC-TE Web site to include:
    • links to ATE and AACTE
    • a new “Features” section, which currently contains the program review survey report, the AACTE TEA PowerPoint, and the PAC-TE USC testimony
    • improvements in the focus group page
    • September 2010 Board minutes, October 2009 Business Meeting Minutes, and October 27, 2010 Board meeting reports
