Executive Director's Report

Since the April 15, 2010, meeting of the PAC-TE Board of Directors, I have engaged in the following association-related activities:

Spring Conference 2010 Follow-up

  • Compiled conference evaluations
  • Finalized budget
  • Analyzed attendee information

Spring Conference 2011 Planning

  • Booked the Penn Stater Conference Center in State College for the April 14, 2011, Spring Conference
  • Calendared important dates and deadlines in the planning process

TEA 2010 Planning

  • Finalized and distributed April 15 planning meeting notes
  • Contacted the PA Professors of Middle Level Education with available times adjacent to the TEA for their meeting
  • Contacted the Professional Development Schools and the PA National Board as per special interest group space and program listing
  • Contacted Suzanne Harpster to begin planning for the Journal Author Roundtable General Session
  • Prepared and sent proposal acceptance and rejection letters
  • Drafted the TEA program for review of the Board
  • Finalized lodging costs and meal choices with the Holiday Inn Harrisburg/Hershey
  • Developed a TEA budget
  • Developed the TEA registration form

Board Support

  • finalized minutes of the April 15 meeting and posted to the Web site, with meeting reports
  • prepared for the June 24-25 Board retreat to include agenda development with the President, facility coordination, booking of lodging, dinner reservation, and announcement to current and incoming Board members and the Government Relations Committee
  • met with and corresponded with the Treasurer on budget reporting, 2010-2011 budget development, IRS compliance, audit, and bonding/liability insurance
  • investigated bonding and liability insurance, best practices as per bylaws, state & federal laws and regulations as per nonprofit corporation lobbying and advocacy activities
  • drafted a revision of the bylaws for the consideration of the Board
  • Prepared Teacher Educator of the Year nomination materials
  • Prepared copy for soliciting Board position nominations
  • Drafted dates for 2010-2011 PAC-TE Board meetings and conferences
  • Prepared 2010-2011 institutional and individual membership forms

Member Communications

  • worked with the Executive Committee to prepare, a graphic artist to publish, the Piper Press to print, and Thomas Lee Printing and Mailing to mail the June NewsNotes
  • sent numerous Tidbits e-mails to the membership –School Funding Campaign reports from PAC-TE’s representative Mary Dupuis, position announcements, PDS Conference registration information, and numerous EPLC newsletters
  • updated Web site

Miscellaneous

  • Worked with the President and PAC-TE AACTE ACSR Representative Jane Bray to develop Pennsylvania’s submission for the Chapter Development component of the June 2010 State Leaders’ Institute.
  • Inventoried and prepared a report and recommendations as per PAC-TE equipment, furniture, archives, publications, plaques, conference programs, supplies, and conference hospitality supplies.
